Bert Ketchum

Bert Ketchum was born and raised in Wayne County, West Virginia. He attended Ohio University where he received a Bachelors of Business Administration degree and was a member of Ohio's varsity baseball team. After receiving his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from John Marshall Law School, Bert returned to Huntington and joined Greene Ketchum. He is an experienced trial lawyer and has litigated cases in the state and federal courts of West Virginia, Ohio and Kentucky including, but not limited to, wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents, mining incidents, medical malpractice, workplace injuries, eminent domain, insurance disputes and murder. Bert's appellate experience includes arguing cases before the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals and the United States Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Bert was honored in 2007 as one of West Virginia's 40 best and brightest professionals under 40. In 2009, he was selected for membership into The American Trial Lawyers Association Top 100 Trial Lawyers in West Virginia and he was selected for inclusion into the West Virginia Super Lawyers in 2010.

In March of 2010, Bert was sole trial counsel for his client who received a record breaking verdict in Wayne County, WV.

Bert currently serves on the West Virginia Association for Justice Board of Governors and the WV Public Defender Corporation Board of Directors for the 6th and 24th Judicial Circuits. He is also a member of the American Association for Justice Construction Site Accident Litigation Group and a past President of the Cabell County Bar Association.

Menis E. Ketchum elected to West Virginia Supreme Court.
Menis E. Ketchum garnered the most votes in the 2008 general election to win a seat on the West Virginia Supreme Court. Mr. Ketchum's grandfather was a politician in Wayne County decades ago. His father started the family law firm. Now, Mr. Ketchum will take his years of law experience and apply it to the state Supreme Court. Mr. Ketchum helped build a prominent litigation law firm which will continue his legacy as trial lawyers fighting for civil justice.
